Charles Hard 1932-2021
MGBC member and friend to many, Charles Hard, has gone home to be with the Lord. Charles passed away on March 4, 2021 Charles Edward Hard, 88 of Pensacola, passed on March 4, 2021 and joined his family in Heaven. Charles was born on March 20, 1932 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He is preceded in death by his wife Christine; son Jimmy; his father and mother; and three brothers. He is survived by one sister, Pauline Dazey of Milton; sister-in-law, Christine Hard of Cottonwood, Alabama; and six nephews. Charles was an avid story teller during his younger days growing up in Altoona, PA and in Forks of the Creek in Jackson County, Florida. Part of the greatest generation, too young for World War II, he joined the Navy at 17 and fought in the Korean and Vietnam War. He spent 9 years on the USS Lexington as a pipe fitter, master of arms, and spent the final three years as a drug counselor. Charles retired after 26 years in the Navy as Master Chief. After retiring, Charles spent 15 years in civil service at NAS. He was an avid member of the Seaside Square dancers and Scoot Back camping group. He was a long time member of the Hadji Shrine and member of the Honor Guard. Charles will truly be missed by all who knew him.
