Claudia Opal Douglas, a longtime resident of Mobile, AL and Pensacola, FL, left this world on March 12th, 2021 at the age of 91. She was employed by Gayfers and Sacred Heart Hospital for over 30 combined years & was a member of the local chapter of a national women’s sorority. She was also of the Baptist faith. Preceding her in death were her parents, Ira Williams (Father) & Bertie Rhodes Williams (Mother) along with her sister, Betty Joe Beckham. As the matriarch of her family, she is survived by two daughters, Denise (John) Bennett and Brenda (Johnnie) Sluder. 8 grandchildren: Jessica McMorris, Gabe Smith, Adam (Lita) Chauvin, Ashley (Cornelia) Chauvin, Nicolas (Ashley) Chauvin, Rebecca (Nathan) McKelvey, John E. (Aimee) Sluder, Jr., and Christy (John) Markham. 11 great-grandchildren: Davin (Angela) Smith, Isaac (Taylor) Smith, Giovanni McMorris, Hannah McKelvey, Haleigh Sluder, Josh Sluder, Leah Markham, Amber Markham and the 3 children of Ashley (Cornelia) Chauvin. 2 sisters and 1 brother: Gertrude Millican, Doris Dove and Clayton Williams. And a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation will be held in the chapel at Pensacola Memorial Gardens on Friday, March 19th at 10am with the funeral services immediately following. The family would like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice and Emerald Gardens in Myrtle Grove for assisting in end of life care.
